Position: Navigation System Development Engineer

Department: R&D

Location: Beijing, China


Main Tasks:

Audi China electrical development department is developing the Audi MMIMMIReduced, simple, logical: the Multi Media Interface (MMI) elegantly combines the operation of all infotainment components in one display and operating system.MMI infotainment systems for Asia, comprising of China, Japan and South-Korea. Our major responsibility is to understand and satisfy the specific needs related to the Audi MMI infotainment systems of our customers in Asia. As a premium vehicle manufacturer we are striving for highest quality and innovations to produce attractive products and delight our customers.

In this position you will be
• responsible to provide functional specifications for in-car navigation systems and corresponding databases
• responsible to reach a technical agreement with HMI coordinator and suppliers
• responsible to reach a quality-wise approvable state of the owned function area
• able to report on the current status of the owned function area

Creation and Approval of Specifications:

• Elaboration of functional specifications for navigation and navigation database and leading of reviews together with suppliers and other relevant function owners
• Approval of functional specifications and submission to project management
• Generation of requirements specifications for change requests and submission to decision board
• Provision of input to test specification generated by test groups

Tracking and development planning maintenance:

• Verification of consistency of release plans with respect to the owned function area
• Identification of deviations between the actual execution and the plan, defining counter measures together with responsible engineer, escalation to Line Management when necessary

Tracking bug fixing, achieving of a quality-wise approvable state:

• Assignment of errors and answering of questions in error tracking tool according to the defined error workflow
• Enforcement of error resolution at suppliers side by means of e.g. regular error walkthroughs

Stake holder communication:

• Synchronization with HMI coordinator to ensure feasibility of functionality
• Synchronization with testers responsible for the owned function area
• Synchronization with engineers and project management in the German headquarter
• Technical control of involved suppliers

Performing of competitors analysis and benchmarks



Necessary education:

  • MUST: Technical education in field of electrical engineering (BSc or MSc), information engineering, SW engineering or comparable

Working experience (in years):

  • 3-5 years of SW development for navigation applications and/or navigation databases in the automotive area
  • 1-3 years of working experience in an internationally acting company

Remarks (Language, IT-Knowledge, Certificates etc.):

  • MUST: Mandarin, Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • USEFUL: Korean, Cantonese, German
  • Experience in programing languages C, C++, C#, and similar
  • Experience in project management
