Brands Hatch

Race 2: Brands Hatch (GB) 19/05/2012

Nowhere other than at Brands Hatch do things spin around in the DTM – and this quite literally. On the shortest race track on the DTM calendar the drivers have to complete 98 laps on race Sunday. This may sound monotonous but it extracts the maximum from the drivers. The DTM aces cannot afford to make a mistake since there are hardly any run off areas on the tight and, in part, extremely bumpy circuit. Not the only problem in England as Mattias Ekström explains: “The organizers have made some modifications over the years so that we’ve often had a few small surprises in first practice.”

Circuit length: 1.929 km
Distance: 98 laps
Lap record (race): Miguel Molina, Audi (2010, 41.896s)
Pole 2012: Gary Paffett, Mercedes Benz (41.266s)
Winner 2012: Gary Paffett (Mercedes Benz)
Fastest race lap 2012: Martin Tomczyk, BMW (42.138s, 164.801 km/h)
