The Autodromo José Carlos Pace race track is located at Interlagos about 20 kilometers south of São Paulo. Before the race many drivers put in an extra training shift to help the neck muscles as the track runs anti-clockwise here. “On the way down to the first corner you have to stay right for a long time before cutting left across to the apex on inside. We hold the inside line on the exit of the corner in order to take the next right hander perfectly. This also a good place to overtake,” explains Allan McNish of the ‘Senna S’ corners, one of the key sections on the circuit. Other peculiarities are the occasional bad bumps and also the altitude. 900 meters above sea level means that the engines lose about 40 hp due to the thin air.
