The “Circuit of the Americas” race track was officially opened in 2012 and is located near the Texan metropolis of Austin. In the year of the circuit’s inauguration, Formula 1 returned to the United States after a five-year absence. In his sophisticated track concept, star architect Hermann Tilke merged the best turns of the world’s most renowned circuits, such as the Maggots-Becketts-Chapel combination of corners at Silverstone. In addition, the Grand Prix circuit that includes 20 turns features extreme vertical differences. Changing speeds are guaranteed to provide plenty of variety at this year’s WEC debut at Austin.
